COMFORT & JOY ... to a broken world
Dec 8, 2024 • Monty Watson
One of the oldest Christmas carols promises “tidings of comfort and joy." Oh, how we long for both. Perhaps you’ve had a difficult year, with illness or sadness, burden or hardship. If you have, you long for that promised comfort and joy. But God does not promise comfort in the sense of living a comfortable, carefree life. And He does not promise joy in the sense of happiness and everything going our way. The comfort and joy He promises go much deeper than that. His comfort is His presence, Immanuel, God with us. And His joy is the hope and peace that come through faith in Jesus His Son. True comfort and joy come only through faith in Jesus Christ. That is the real promise of Christmas.
