Cheering Jesus Is Not Following Jesus

On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem to a hero’s welcome. People waved palm branches, and shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David … Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” But by the end of the week, the same crowd shouted, “Crucify Him!” Even His disciples deserted Him. Why such a dramatic change? Because Jesus did not meet their expectations. And that’s why cheering Jesus is not the same as following Jesus. And the question each of us must answer is, are you a fan or a follower?
