Give Us Our Daily Bread

The Lord’s Prayer is also an invitation to ask. It is a prayer for provision, asking God to take care of us and provide what we need. Jesus said, “Pray like this … Give us this day our daily bread.” Three truths come from that phrase. (1) We are totally dependent on God for everything we need. (2) We can ask God for anything we need. (3) We can trust God to provide all we need. Therefore, “give us our daily bread” should be a way of life. Each day acknowledging our dependence on God for everything we need.
