So much of life is out of our control, and that leaves us with only one real option. When things are out of our control, the only thing we can do is trust the one who is in control.

Proverbs 3:5-6 is a famous passage of Scripture because it points us to the one we can trust. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). That’s not a quaint saying to cross-stitch and hang on the wall. This is rock. This is the foundation on which we stand. “Trust in the Lord.” This is what we do when life is out of our control, when we don’t understand what’s going on, when we can’t fix things, and when we can’t escape our circumstances. When things are out of our control, the only thing we can do is trust the one who is in control.
