The Story of Ephesus

Sep 12, 2021

We first read about Ephesus in 53 AD, where the book of Acts records a dramatic conversion that swept the city, many turned from idols and turned to Jesus. In 62 AD, Paul wrote a letter to the young church in Ephesus, a letter filled with rich theology and discipleship. Yet, by 90 AD, the book of Revelation reveals the sad story of the church at Ephesus. The church known for its dramatic conversion and rich theology, according to Jesus, had left their “first love.” Again, we need this letter just as much as they needed it. Because what happened to them over a 40-year span can happen to us. May the story of Ephesus be a warning to us. May we never drift from our first love. May we enjoy the thrill of His grace. May we live with gratitude for His grace. May we walk in a manner worthy of His amazing grace.
