Work Life

Psalm 78 describes David’s calling. It says God “chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens, from tending sheep, to be the shepherd of His people Jacob, of Israel. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart and with skillful hands he led them” (Psalm 78:70-72, NIV). God promoted David from being a shepherd to being a king! And David approached that job with the same character and skill he had as a shepherd. Like David, when we follow God’s call on our lives, when we approach our jobs with character and skill, we glorify God. Ephesians 6:5-9 addresses our work life. If you’re retired and think this message in no longer relevant for you, hang on, because the biblical principles from Ephesians 6 apply to our retirement years as well.
