#14-Discipleship-Serving
Life is short and you have only one life to live. King David felt it when he said, “How fleeting is my life … Each man’s life is but a breath” (Psalm 39:4-5). Knowing that should motivate us to make our lives count. Nothing will make our lives count more than following Jesus Christ and serving Him.
As we continue our study on discipleship, one of the top 15 characteristics of a disciple of Jesus is servanthood. Jesus said, “If you want to be great, then become a servant. If you want to lead, then lead by serving. Because even I did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life for all of you” (Matthew 20:26-28). This message is about servanthood, about serving God according to our spiritual gifts, talents, and passions, about serving God with everything we have. Peter teaches that “each of us has received a special gift” (1 Peter 4:10). To make your life count you must understand that you are uniquely made and there is no one else in the world like you, and you are uniquely called and have a God-given assignment with your name on it.
