False Voices

Two thousand years ago, Peter wrote two letters that were circulated among Christians scattered all over the Roman world due to persecution. Life was difficult and they were very much in the minority. But not only were they threatened by those outside the church, they also faced a threat from inside the church – the threat of false teaching. That’s another reason why Peter wrote these two letters, and said, “I have written these things to you, encouraging and assuring you that this (Gospel) is the true grace of God, so stand firm in it” (1 Peter 5:12).
